Creating Lines Tutorial

This tutorial teaches many different techniques including how to create your very own styled lines.

Filters Required:

Filters Unlimited 2 - AFS Import - Patchrin

Filters Unlimited 2 - Paper Textures - Canvas Fine

Filter Factory B - I would cut

Graphics Plus - Cross Shadow

Materials

Preparation:


Look thru the list of filters and make certain you have them.
Open all tubes and mask in your psp program and minimize.
Material Palette - Set foreground to #358389 and background to #FFFFFF. Set Foreground to Gradient -
Style Radial, Gradient Foreground/Background, Angle 45, Repeats 4, Invert checked.

Lets Begin:

A)Distant Background

1)File, New Image, 760wx560h, transparent.
2)Flood Fill with gradient
3)Adjust - Blur - Gaussian Blur - 30.00 radius
4)Effects - Plugins - Alien Skin Snap Art - Oil Painting - Settings Tab - Select psppeg_oil1
5)Effects - Plugins - FM Tile Tools - Blend Emboss - Default Settings

B)Mask Layer

1)Layers - New Raster Layer
2)Material Palette - Change Gradient to Color - White
3)Flood Fill with Foreground Color
4)Layers - New Mask Layer - From Image - Select Narah_mask_Abstract104 - Source Luminance Checked

5)Layers - Merge - Merge Groups
6)Image - Flip
7)Layers - Merge - Merge Visable

C)Overlay

1)Layers - New Raster Layer
2)Flood Fill with Foreground Color
3)Effects - Plugins - Harry's Rave Grads - MixBeam Gradients 1.5

4)Image - Flip
5)Layer Palette - Opacity: 36, Blend Mode: Normal

D)Creating Styled Lines
Pen Tool - Select Lines

On the Drop Down Lines Palette - Select Custom

1)On the Palette that appears - Top Corner - First Cap - Select Arrow - Select #1 - Flat
- Then Select Size beside it and change it to 1.00
2) Repeat for Last Cap - Right Top Corner
3)Check Different Segment Caps - Under Segment Start - Select the Last Image - Tulips and change size to 4.00
4)Repeat For Segment End
5)Under Style - Hit Clear
6)Then Change Length to 10.00
7)Select Save as New - Name your new line

E)Using Your Line and Creating Edges
1)Preset Shapes Tool - Select Carreau 1 - Select Your New Line - Width 2.00

2)Material Palette - #358389 Foreground, White Background -
Change background to your gradient - Sunburst, Angle 45, Repeat 4, 50/50, Invert unchecked
3)Draw the Diamond the size of 1 and 1/2 inches by 1 and 1/2 inches - exactness is no biggy
4)Objects - Align Center of Canvas
5)Layers - Convert to Raster
6)Selections - Select All - Select Float - Select Modify - Contract - Pixels: 2
7)Adjust - Blur - Gaussian Blur - Same Settings
8)Effects - Plugins - Andrews Filters 48 - Mixing Dots And More Dots - Default Settings
9)Selections - Select None
10)Effects - Plugins - Alien Skin Snap Art - Pastel
11)Effects - Plugins - Mura Meisters - Copies - Lines

12)Image - Free Rotate - Right, 90.00 Degrees
13)Effects - Image Effects - Offset - H: 300, V: 0, transparent
14)Layer Palette - Opacity: 100, Blend Mode: Hardlight
15)Layers - Duplicate
16)Image - Mirror
17)Layer Palette - Select Raster 1 or the layer second from bottom

F)Main Tube
1)Maximize Image1fnt.psp - Edit - Copy - Close image - Edit - Paste As a New Layer.
2)Image - Resize - 70%, all layers unchecked
3)Effects - Image Effects - Offset - H: minus -190, V: minus - 40, transparent

G)Corner Decor

To Create Continue, This Element is provided, If using the element skip to Step 18)
1)New Image - 500h x 500w, transparent
2)Material Palette - Change Foreground to White - Background Null
3)Pen Tool - Draw Freehand - Line: The one you created, Width: 2.00

4)Create 3 points to your line

5)Right Click on the Center Node - Select Node Type - Select Symmetric

6)A Double Headed Arrow Will Appear - Pull on the arrow in both directions until you have a nice curve
7)Objects - Align - Center of Canvas
8)Layers - Convert to Raster
9) Mover tool - Move so that the top just touches the right side
10)Layers - Duplicate
11)Hit your K Key
12)Mouse over the Square until two arrows appear

13)Turn until you have a bit of space between the two curved lines
14)Then move so the bottoms line up
15)Repeat steps 10 to 14 until you have 6 curved lines
16)Layers - Merge - Merge Visable
17)Image - Resize 50%, all layers unchecked
18) Maximize your Corner Decor psppeg_element1.psp - Edit - Copy - Close Image - Edit - Paste - As a New Layer
19)Mover Tool - Position Bottom Left Corner
20)Layers - Duplicate - Image - Mirror
21)Layers - Merge - Merge Down
22)Layers - Duplicate - Image - Flip

H)Framing
1)Layers - Merge - Merge All
2)Maximize - JHanna_494İNina_Chen.psp - Edit - Copy - Close Tube - Edit - Paste - As A New Layer
3)Mover Tool - Position Bottom Right Corner
4)Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow - minus 2, minus 2, 30, 2.00
5)Layers - Merge - Merge All
6)Image - Add Borders - 1 pixel symmetric border in White
7)Layers - Promote Background Layer
8)Image - Resize 94%, all layers unchecked
9)Layers - New Raster Layer
10)Layers - Arrange - Send to Bottom

16)Layer Palette - Select Top Layer

18)Repeat Drop Shadow, using plus 2's for the top two values
19)Optional: Change Foreground to White Background null, Preset Shapes Tool Rectangle , Draw a Rectangle over the edge of your top image
20)Image - Add Borders - 1 pixel symmetric border in White

J)Finalizing

1)Add your watermark
2)Add text
3)Layers - Merge - Merge All Flatten.
